1991년 탄생한 케이프 코드는 에르메스의 전설적인 아티스틱 디렉터 앙리 도리니Henri D’Origny의 작품이다. 사각형 시계 디자인을 의뢰받은 그는 자신이 선호한 직사각형과 브랜드의 대표적인 아이콘, 앵커 체인을 조합했다. 앵커 체인, 프랑스어로 셴 당크르(Chaîne d’Ancre)는 1938년 팔찌로 처음 소개한 이래 에르메스의 상징이 됐고 케이프 코드에서는 케이스와 러그는 물론 아워 인덱스의 숫자 8에도 담겨 있다. 둥그스름한 직사각형 안에 정사각형이 자리잡고 있는 케이스 형태의 케이프 코드는 더블 투어 스트랩을 장착해 참신하면서 대담한 스타일로 주목받았다. 줄을 길게 만들어 손목에 두 번 감을 수 있도록 한 더블 투어 스트랩은 1998년 당시 패션 디렉터였던 마르탱 마르지엘라가 시계업계 최초로 소개한 것으로 이후 보메 메르시에, 티파니, 펜디 등 여러 브랜드에서 이를 차용하기도 했다.
케이프 코드 25주년을 기념해 다이얼, 인덱스, 케이스, 스트랩까지 모두 검은색인 케이프 코드 블랙을 소개한 데 이어 2018년에는 새로운 다이얼을 가진 케이프 코드 모델을 추가했다. 첫번째 버전은 다이얼을 로듐 도금하고 미러 폴리싱한 후 다시 반투명 래커로 마무리해 거울 같은 효과를 낸 모델이다. 케이스는 라지와 스몰 두가지 크기로,싱글이나 더블 투어로 선택할 수 있는 섬세한 밀라니즈 메시 브레이슬릿을 부착했다.

또 다른 케이프 코드는 블랙 골드와 블루 래커로 마무리한 다이얼 위 3시, 6시, 9시, 12시 자리에 앵커 체인 모양을 넣은 시계다. 이 역시 싱글이나 더블 투어 스트랩으로 선택 가능하고 다이얼 색과 어울리는 에토프étoupe와 말타 블루Malta 컬러가 부착되어 있다. 모두 쿼츠 무브먼트를 탑재했다.
